Meeting at EASA: Simplification, security, U-space

As member of the EASA Drone Community, AME participated in this week’s meeting of the Drone Community Steering Group (D.CSTG), which brings together industry, and the following joint meeting with EASA Member States.

The focus of the meeting was on the forthcoming regulatory changes, which will go into the EASA/European Commission comitology process after summer. The stakes are high: With the European drone and IAM sector stagnating, amendments to the current regulation are urgently needed.

As AME, we were happy to provide the feedback of our members to the different regulatory files, namely the simplification and security packages as well as the addendum on U-space simplification.

We look forward to continuing the constructive work with EASA and the European Commission, to ensure that the regulation is fit for purpose and addresses the real bottlenecks that prevent the establishment of a European drone and IAM market.
