Meeting of EASA Drone Community Steering Group and Member States

On 25 and 26 March 2026, AME and its industry partner associations convened at EASA for a meeting of the EASA Drone Community Steering Group (D.CSTG). With major files such as the Simplification package and the changes related to the EU Action Plan on Drone and Counter-Drone Security on the table, it is paramount that feedback from the drone and IAM industry ecosystem feeds into the regulatory process to ensure that regulation reflects realities on the ground and removes the hurdles that continue to hamper Europe’s drone market.

A joint meeting with the UAS Technical Body (UAS TeB) of the Member States on the second day further ensured strong connections with NAAs.

While much remains to be done, progress is underway, and the establishment of streamlined interactions with the colleagues at EASA and across the wider ecosystem is starting to pay off.

Opportunity for AME members

AME members who want to contribute to the regulatory process are welcome to join the EASA drone community and participate in the four Activity Groups – Open, Specific, Certified, U-space & Airspace Integration – where topics such as harmonisation, geozones, and BVLOS operations are discussed.
