Today, drones took centre stage in Brussels. The DG MOVE Informal Expert Group on Drones, of which AME is a member, met at the European Commission, and in the afternoon, the European Innovation Council Drone Day brought UAV to the attention of the broader public.
On the agenda of the Informal Drone Expert Group, amongst other things:
- International Civil Aviation Organization Vision for Advanced Air Mobility
- U-space state of play
- Financing opportunities under the European Defence Fund
The EIC Drone Day took place on one of Brussels’s central squares, bringing the drone sector to the middle of society. Amongst the projects and companies on display: BURDI.eu, EUREKA, and CORUS five, all projects in which AME is a proud partner. The event was opened by EU Commissioner for Startups, Research and Innovation Ekaterina Zaharieva, Belgian Minister for Mobility Jean-Luc Crucke, and City Councillor Delphine Houba – a reminder of the need to work together across all levels, from EU to national to local.
